In a format where Bangladesh have simply been ordinary for the past many years, the onus will be on their captain and star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to offer them inspiration on the big stage.
The experienced Mahmudullah, their captain in the previous edition is not even in the squad this time around and with no viable options available, Shakib Al Hasan was asked to take up the top job.

In fact, just two days before the start of the tournament, they shuffled their squad once again, largely because of another poor showing in the tri-series in New Zealand.
They have brought in Soumya Sarkar & Shoriful Islam into the squad, replacing Mohammad Saifuddin and Sabbir Rahman, after Sarkar & Shoriful performed marginally better than the two players they have replaced. Saifuddin & Sabbir, in fact, didn't even travel to Australia and have been sent back home from Christchurch itself.
Bangladesh will begin their ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign on October 24 in the Super 12 round at Bellerive Oval in Hobart.
The Bangla Tigers are placed in Group 2, which consists of India, South Africa, Pakistan, and the remaining two sides will be decided after the qualifying round.
