Spinner duo Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammed Nawaz jointly took 5 wickets while captain Shaheen Afridi dismissed 2 Kiwis. With the 42-run victory Sunday, Pakistan managed to get some consolation in the New Zealand series that ended 4-1.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Pakistan opener Haseebullah Khan was dismissed cheaply. Most of the runs scored by the visitors came off the bat of Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman. Shaheen Afridi, taking on New Zealand in his first series as captain, gave away 20 runs.
Finn Allen and Glenn Phillips were the only batters who crossed the 20-run mark as New Zealand faltered in the final clash of the 5-game series. The Kiwis played the final game with three crucial players – Kane Williamson, Daryl Mitchell and Devon Conway.
