Australian legend Steve Waugh expressed his disappointment over left-handed batter Travis Head’s omission from Australia’s Playing XI for the first Test.

The Australian great took to Instagram and wrote 'it is hard to believe that the Kangaroos have dropped Head, who has been the country's best batter in the past 12 months.

He also stated that Australia have not only dropped an in-form batter but a potent off-spinner who could have come in handy on Indian wickets.

Head, who is ranked No. 4 in Tests, has been in sensational form. He came to India on the back of a brilliant home season against West Indies and South Africa, scoring 525 runs at an average of 87.50.

29-year-old Head, in fact, is the first Australian batter to finish a home Test summer with over 500 runs at a strike rate of above 95.
