Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran is expected to join Team India in Chattogram as injured skipper Rohit Sharma's replacement for the upcoming 2-Test series in Bangladesh, starting 14th December.
A BCCI source in the know of developments told PTI that the 27-year-old opener who has scored back-to-back hundreds in the ongoing A Test series will in all likelihood, join the squad after finishing his second A Test in Sylhet.
Easwaran who might get a chance to make his Test debut is currently leading India A in a 2-match unofficial Test series against Bangladesh A. He scored 141 in the first A Test and was 144 not out at stumps on day two of the 2nd Test.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma who has been ruled out of the final ODI of the 3-match ODI series, will likely not play the 2-match Test series as well. In his absence, KL Rahul and Shubhman Gill are expected to open for Team India.
