Washington Sundar who has remained out for most of 2022 due to injuries passed with flying colors in India’s lost causes against Bangladesh & New Zealand in the two 3-match ODI series.
The all-rounder who has been India’s go-to man in trouble situations in both the 50-over series has aced with the willow and the ball in hand. Just before the 3rd ODI, the 23-year-old said that he wants to be a player who could play in any situation and wherever the team needs him. 'Whatever positions demand me to do, I have been practising that way. I have been working in those specific manners,' Washington said.
Sundar whose focus is set on the World Cup 2023 further said that he was glad that his hard work was reaping dividends.
The all-rounder, who has picked up five wickets in the two preceding matches of the series where India ended up on the losing side further added, 'I want to be a player who could play in any situation, in any sort of combination, and wherever the team needs it. To win games, wherever they ask me to play, I will play. That's the kind of player I want to be.'
In New Zealand's rain-heckled series too, Sundar played 2 important knocks of 37 off 16 in first ODI that India lost and 51 off 64 balls in the 3rd ODI which got called off eventually.
