India's preparation for the important rescheduled Test against England suffered a major blow after senior batter and former captain Virat Kohli appears to be doubtful for the practice game.
According to reports, Virat Kohli was earlier affected by Covid-19 after returning from a holiday in the Maldives.
A BCCI source told the Times of India, "Yes, Virat too was hit by Covid after returning from holidaying in Maldives, but he has recovered now."
This is a major headache for Indian team management and head coach Rahul Dravid as Kohli's participation in the practice game against Leicestershire remains uncertain as medical advice is to avoid overloading the players after recovering from Covid-19.
Virat who was on a break after IPL, had also skipped the India vs South Africa T20Is. He was supposed to play in the practice game in order to get match ready for the series-deciding 5th Test, which begins July 1.
Earlier, premier off-spinner R Ashwin had also tested positive for Covid-19 and his departure to England was delayed. He is also not available to play the warm-up game.
