India flaunted their batting prowess in the win against South Africa in the 2nd T20I. But, that apparently has sparked a debate around the Player of the Match award which was bestowed upon KL Rahul.
A Suryakumar vs KL Rahul discourse has kicked off.
While the vice-captain himself wasn't convinced with his award, he too felt, Suryakumar's whirlwind 22-ball-61 'changed the game'.
In the post-match presentation, he said, 'I am surprised I am getting the Man of the Match award, Surya should have gotten it. He changed the game.'
The 30-year-old who himself played a significant inning, punched 27-ball-58.
This, however, irked the fans who questioned the selection of the award winner for SKY ended his phenomenal knock with more runs in fewer balls.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul proved his critics wrong when he played a rather aggressive inning against a formidable South African pace attack. He has long been under scrutiny for his strike rate. Even in the previous game vs SA, he scored 51 off 56 balls. And in contrast to him, SKY scored a blazing 33 ball 50.
However, the opener in the post-match conference defended himself by saying that he will only bat as per conditions and since an aggressive temperament was needed he played the way he did.
