Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan who will lead Team India in the ODI series vs South Africa believes that the 3-match series will be very crucial for all the stand-by players of the T20 World Cup.
Mohd Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Deepak Chahar have been named as reserves for the marquee event that begins on the 16th of October. Except for Shami who is recovering from Covid-19, all three players will have a chance to play in the series.
On the eve of the first game, Dhawan said that the reserve players who will get a chance to play in the ODI series can look at it as preparation to make a case for themselves in the main squad.
''Of course, it is very important because the more matches they (standby players) are going to play, they will be in a better groove and a better mindset. If the boys perform well, then obviously the confidence will help them. Who knows they might get a chance so they can look at this series as preparation,' the stand-in skipper said.
