After an under the pump pair of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane scored a half-century each in the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test vs South Africa, Sunil Gavaskar said that they came good on the trust shown in them.
During a chat with Star Sports, the former India skipper said that the team has backed them because of the experience and what they have done in the past. 'Sometimes we can be a little bit hard on some of our senior players because you have these exciting young players waiting in the wings and we all want to see them get a bit of exposure. But as long as these senior players are playing well and not getting out badly, then we should show faith in them, added Gavaskar.
Rahane and Pujara ended a long patch of dry run with the bat and stitched a 111-run stand when India needed it the most.
