Suryakumar Yadav held the fort down the order as the Rohit Sharma-led side registered a 6 wicket win with 7 balls to spare in the first T20 vs West Indies in Kolkata on Wednesday. After 3 wickets fell back to back, SKY along with Venkatesh Iyer produced a match-winning knock of unbeaten 34 off 18 that helped India take a 1-0 lead in the 3 match series against the Windies. Yadav who smashed 5 fours and a 6, put on a crucial 48-run stand with Iyer who scored 24 off 13.
Crediting the 27-year-old, Suryakumar Yadav in the post-match conference said, 'Iyer came in to bat with a completely different positivity that passed on to me.' Pointing out that Iyer started his game with a boundary, Yadav who came in to bat no. 5 felt that it was the perfect platform for both of them to finish the game.

Speaking about his own game, Yadav who gave an impeccable finishing touch said that he can play at any position and that it was important for him to finish the game for India.
