BCCI president Sourav Ganguly will return to the cricket field as captain once again, this time to lead India Maharajas against World Giants in a special match of the Legends League Cricket on September 16.
In a statement, league commissioner Ravi Shastri said that this year's league is dedicated to India's 75th year of Independence.
The Ganguly-led side will feature some of India's legendary players such as Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Mohammed Kaif among others.

Meanwhile, the World Giants side will be led by 2019 World Cup-winning captain Eoin Morgan. The World Giants squad will also have renowned superstars in Herschelle Gibbs, Dale Steyn, Sanath Jayasuriya, Muttiah Muralitharan, Mitchell Johnson, and Brett Lee among others.
“Players from across 10 foreign countries will be participating in this match. The league will commence the next day from September 17, 2022, wherein 4 teams in franchise format will be competing in the Legends League Cricket Franchise format. Overall 15 matches will be played this season,” according to the official press release.
