India all-rounder Shardul Thakur suffered a blow to his shoulder in the nets while practicing batting on December 30.
The injury scare comes ahead of India's second and final Test against South Africa in Cape Town that begins January 3.
News agency PTI reported that the extent of Thakur's injury is not clear including whether it requires further scans.
But it was revealed that the Indian was visibly in pain and couldn't bowl during the net session.
Thakur, who was the first player to enter the throwdown nets, was hit on the left shoulder while facing throwdowns from batting coach Vikram Rathour.
Following India's shocking defeat in the first Test, Thakur's spot in the Playing XI remains under question. In just 19 overs, he gave away 100 runs and was not a great show with the bat either.
