The Indian Test squad reached Leicester where they’ll be stationed for the next 7 days before moving to Birmingham for the rescheduled final Test against England.
Ahead of that fixture on July 1, India will take on county side Leicestershire in their only warm-up game, a four-day match that starts on June 24. Rohit Sharma’s men have arrived in England with a 2-1 lead and the warm-up match will be crucial to India’s chances as they take on a rejuvenated England under new captain Ben Stokes.
While the limited-overs side will be in Ireland for the 2-match T20I series, the Test squad will be focussing on getting used to the English conditions at Grace Road in Leicester.
The BCCI tweeted out pictures of Team India’s training session, with captain Rohit Sharma among those present at the ground. The fifth and final Test is part of the five-match series which was halted after the 4th Test due to COVID-19 cases in the Indian camp last year. If India manage to win or draw the Edgbaston Test, it will be their first Test series victory in England since 2007.
