Mohammed Shami has become the quickest Indian bowler to complete 150 ODI wickets. Shami achieved this massive feat during India’s brilliant bowling performance in the first ODI against England, where he finished with figures of 3/31. In fact, it was Jos Buttler - the Three Lions’ captain who turned out to be his 150th scalp.
The 31-year-old pacer achieved the milestone in his 80th ODI appearance for India. He is now well ahead of Ajit Agarkar as well as Zaheer Khan who achieved the feat in 97 and 103 games respectively.
The Indian bowler also equalled Afghanistan's Rashid Khan's record to become the joint-third fastest to take 150 ODI wickets. Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc (77) and Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq (78) occupy the first two spots on the list.
It was the brilliance of Shami & Bumrah that shot down the Three Lions for 110, a paltry total that India chased down without breaking a sweat at the Oval. The visitors currently lead the 3-match series 1-0.
