Yuzvendra Chahal is on the verge of becoming India's highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket. Chahal, who won the purple cap in IPL 2022, has 274 wickets in 242 matches. The leggie is only two wickets away from R Ashwin's record of 276 scalps in T20s.
Chahal could go past the off-spinner's record during the five-match series against South Africa since Ashwin is no more a part of India's squad in the shortest format.

With 68 wickets in 54 games, Chahal is already India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is. He is followed by premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah who has 67 wickets, one less than Chahal.
Bumrah, who has been rested for the series against the Proteas, will only be available for India's tour of United Kingdom.
