The players' auction for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will take place on December 23 in Kochi.
It was earlier reported that Istanbul might host the auction but the idea was dropped.
This time around it will be a mini-auction, given that the mega auction was held prior to IPL 2022 which saw a major rejig in teams for all franchises.
According to reports, the salary purse of the franchises will be Rs 95 crore this time around, an increase of Rs 5 crore from last year. This means each franchise will have reserves of at least Rs 5 crore to start with. The purse could swell if the IPL teams release players ahead of the auction.
IPL 2023 is likely to kick-start in the 4th week of March next year.
