There isn't an IPL auction when the league's tagline, 'Where talent meets opportunity' isn't justified and IPL 2024 Auction was no different.
Shubham Dubey, an uncapped Indian cricketer who plays for Vidarbha, was bought for a whopping ₹5.80 crore by the Rajasthan Royals. Interestingly, he had a base price of ₹20 lakh.
Shubham recently made headlines for his explosive batting at the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where the left-handed batter scored 221 runs in seven innings at a strike rate of 187.28.
It seemed that Shubham would be the most expensive buy of this year's auction but Sameer Rizvi fetched even more.
The 20-year-old triggered a bidding war between Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals and the Chennai Super Kings before 5-time champions CSK bought him for a whopping ₹8.40 crore.
Rizvi smashed the most sixes for Kanpur Superstars at the UP T20 League. He also made two blistering hundreds and finished with 455 runs in nine innings in the tournament.
Later, the Delhi Capitals paid ₹7.20 crore for uncapped Indian wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra.
The 19-year-old from Jharkhand was called up by the Delhi Capitals earlier this year to their off-season camp to practice.
