Mumbai Indians have appointed Mark Boucher as the head coach of the franchise from the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League.
With Mahela Jayawardene and Zaheer Khan taking up global roles for the franchise, there were murmurs about Boucher taking up the top job at IPL's most-successful franchise, and now that has been confirmed.
Boucher will take over after his coaching stint with the South African national team comes to an end post the T20 World Cup in Australia.

While terming Mumbai Indians as the world's most successful sporting franchise, Boucher said that MI have been a strong unit with great leadership and players.
However, Boucher will have a big task on his hands, especially after Mumbai finished the 2022 season at the bottom of the 10-team points table and managed to win only 4 of the 14 matches.
Despite MI's poor outing in the previous season, Jayawardene will still be regarded as one of the most successful coaches in the world's biggest T20 extravaganza.
The Sri Lankan legend won 3 titles with the Mumbai Indians, having taken over as head coach only in 2017.
His replacement, Mark Boucher, had previously worked with Kolkata Knight Riders as a wicket-keeping coach in 2016. Prior to that, he had also played for KKR as well as the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
