IPL Mega Auctions 2022: Royals Challengers Bangalore buy back Wanindu Hasaranga for ₹10.75 crore

Although Wanindu Hasaranga does not have much IPL experience, he triggered a bidding war on the first day of the IPL Mega Auctions 2022. The Sri Lankan cricketer who was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore last year as a replacement for Adam Zampa mid-season returned to the camp. The deal that saw Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad fighting hard got closed for 10.75 crores.

Hasaranga who made his debut in IPL on 20th September 2021 against Kolkata Knight Riders has only played 2 IPL games and got no wickets in the 2021 edition for Bangalore. He also became the first Sri Lankan cricketer to earn over 10 crores in mega auctions. 

RCB who retained Virat Kohli, Mohd Siraj, and Glenn Maxwell also bought Harshal Patel, Faf du Plessis in the auctions.
