Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur is likely to be released by his IPL team, Delhi Capitals after an underwhelming season in IPL 2022. He was bought by the franchise for ₹10.75 crore in the IPL mega-auction earlier this year.
Shardul was picked for his all-round abilities, yet he returned with disappointing figures of just 120 runs with the bat having an average of 15. Though he picked up 15 wickets, Shardul had an economy of close to 10 runs per over in 14 matches.
The 31-year-old is currently in Australia with the Indian team for the T20 World Cup. Along with Thakur, wicket-keeper KS Bharat and Mandeep Singh are also likely to be released from the Delhi squad. With Delhi Capitals finishing 5th in the 2022 season, they'd be looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
