Ishan Kishan, the star wicketkeeper-batter for Team India, took a break from the demanding cricket schedule last month, and the Indian cricket community discussed it extensively earlier this week.
After participating consistently in the West Indies tour, the Asia Cup, the ODI World Cup, the T20I series against Australia, and the South Africa tour last year, Ishan decided to take a break, citing mental exhaustion.
Despite "disciplinary" rumors circulating, India coach Rahul Dravid unambiguously supported Ishan Kishan for a place in the Test squad for the England series. Before the Tests against England, Dravid asked Kishan to play a Ranji match, but it appears he is unable to play a domestic match.
According to PTI, Ishan is yet to make himself available for selection for his state team, Jharkhand.
“No, Ishan hasn’t contacted or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI,” Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) secretary Debasish Chakraborty told the agency.
