The Delhi and District Cricket Association had to wait till the last moment for their selection meeting for the Ranji Trophy as they didn't have an update on Ishant Sharma. Minutes before the meeting, the veteran Indian pacer told the DDCA that he was not going to play the Ranji Trophy.
Surprisingly, according to a report in the Times of India, Ishant had told a member of the Indian team management that he was keen on playing the domestic tournament. The report added that both Ishant and Saha have been told that the management is looking to groom the next line of players. Hence, their chances of reviving their Test careers look bleak.
Ishant Sharma didn't get a Test to play in the series vs South Africa despite India trying out every other pacer in the squad.
