Several experts and cricket pundits have had their say on Virat Kohli's form and Rickey Ponting has also joined the debate.
'If you leave Virat out of the eve of the World Cup, and someone comes in and has a reasonable tournament, it will be hard for Virat to get back in it,' said that former Australia skipper while speaking on The ICC Review.
Ponting feels that had he been the captain or the coach of Team India, he would have kept pushing with Virat. 'If he finds his confidence back and plays as well as he can, that upside would be better than most players,' added Ponting.
The 47-year-old, who led Australia to two World Cup triumphs claimed that had he been an opposition captain or even a player, he would fear to play against an Indian team that had Virat Kohli in it as compared to the one without him.
Virat's lean patch seems never-ending as the 33-year-old last scored an international hundred in November 2019.
