There won't be an all-spin attack by England for the 2nd Test against India in Visakhapatnam as star spinner Jack Leach has been ruled out.
Three Lions' captain Ben Stokes confirmed the development and revealed that Leach would not be a part of the English team due to an injury on his left knee.
"He's ruled out of the second Test. Unfortunately, the knock he took resulted in a haematoma," Stokes was quoted as saying on Sky Sports.
"It's a big shame for us and a big shame for him. It's something we're assessing every day but the medical team have taken over on that, so hopefully it's not something too serious that keeps him out for longer," he added.
Leach did not take part in the tourists' net practice on Wednesday and joined his teammates at the ground solely to receive treatment for his left knee injury.
Leach's absence has probably opened the door for Shoaib Bashir, who may make his international debut in the 2nd Test. He missed the 1st Test in Hyderabad due to visa issues.
