Amid reports of Jason Roy giving up his ECB contract to sign up for the Los Angeles Knight Riders, the player has issued a clarification through an Instagram story.
Roy wrote, 'I am not and never will walk away from England. Representing my country continues to be my proudest moment as a professional cricketer. I hope to play for England for many more years, that remains my priority.'
The England opener confirmed that he already has had talks with the ECB about playing Major League Cricket and the board is happy to let him play as long as they didn't have to pay him for the remainder of the contractual year.
Roy reiterated that his priority will always be England cricket, especially in a World Cup year, and that representing their country is the greatest honour for any player.
