Jasprit Bumrah on Wednesday sparked a debate after his cryptic Instagram story went viral hours after becoming the number 1 Test bowler in the latest ICC rankings.
His story had two pictures. While a man can be seen sitting alone in a stadium in one of them, a huge crowd can be seen in the other in a similar stadium. The caption read, 'The Support vs the Congratulations.'
Bumrah made history when he became the first Indian pacer to be ranked number 1 in Tests. He dethroned teammate Ravichandran Ashwin from the top.
The fast bowler was rewarded for his match-winning spells in the two innings of the Vizag Test vs England where Bumrah picked 6 and 3 wickets respectively.
What made the feat even more special was the fact that it was the first time Bumrah became the best Test bowler. Previously, the 30-year-old was never ranked above third despite a total of 10 five-wicket hauls in 34 Test matches.
Bumrah is just the 4th Indian bowler overall to top the bowling charts, with Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Bishan Singh Bedi, the only players from the Asian country to have done so previously.
