As the all-important ODI World Cup approaches, India will turn to its star pacer Jasprit Bumrah to make a crucial part of the national side and as per a report by The Indian Express, the 29-year-old is all set to return to the field.
While Bumrah was expected to return for the Asia Cup, the report stated that selectors are looking at the bowler to take part in the upcoming series against Ireland next month.
Bumrah, who has been out of action since September 2022 owing to a back injury, has started bowling in the nets at Bengaluru's National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is showing signs of progress, the IE report stated.
With a rehabilitiation program at the NCA under VVS Laxman, BCCI's head of cricket, Bumrah began bowling full throttle, playing at least 8-10 overs in the nets.
Bumrah had to miss the IPL this year as well after he underwent a surgery in March for his back.
The report further stated that batter Shreyas Iyer who was also operated for a recurring back injury has also resumed batting after successfully completing his rehab.
