Jasprit Bumrah's return to competitive cricket to get longer as India's pace spearhead has been ruled out of the 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on fitness grounds.
According to various media reports, the decision has been taken after a recommendation from an NCA staff given important assignments such as the Test series against Australia and ODI World Cup taken into consideration.
Bumrah didn't even travel to Guwahati for the 1st ODI.
Earlier, BCCI had added 29-year-old Bumrah to the Indian squad for Sri Lanka ODIs on the recommendation of the all-India selection committee.
India's lynchpin Bumrah has been out of cricketing action since September 2022 after his back-stress fracture injury resurfaced just ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia.
India’s updated squad for Sri Lanka ODIs: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya (VC), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh.
