Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar had an intense love for the cricketers and the sport. Lata didi, an ardent cricket lover shared a very special bond with Sachin Tendulkar.
From sharing screen to pushing for a Bharat Ratna for him to singing songs on his request, Lata Mangeshkar adored Sachin Tendulkar.

She shared the screen with the legendry cricketer in the much-celebrated track, 'Mile Sur Mere tumhara'. In the music video of the iconic song that was first released on 15th August 1988, the veteran singer was seen alongside several known Indian cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, S Venkatraraghavan, Syed Kirmani, Arun Lal.
Sachin who reciprocated the love and respect addressed the renowned singer as his 'aai'.
‘I can never forget the day when he called me aai for the first time, I had never imagined that’, said India's pride who passed away after battling Covid-19.
The vocal cricket fan in her that demanded a Bharat Ratna for Sachin Tendulkar had said in 2010 that whatever Sachin has done, very few people can do for India.
While the respected singer was fond of Sachin’s magic on the field, just like the millions, the latter too was a fan of her melodious voice.
Lata Mangeshkar celebrated his 100th century in her own way. She sang ‘Tu Jahan Jahan rahega’ on the cricketers’ special request who smashed his 100th ton in March of 2012.
Just like every other Indian, Lata Mangeshkar too is a passionate cricket fan. She even watched India win the 1983 World Cup at the Lords.

Years later, India's nightingale recalled those memories and said, 'I watched the final at the Lords, I could not believe that we had defeated 2 times champion West Indies'
She even did a free concert for the Team where she remembers how all the players had also sung a song along with her, a song that was specially composed by her brother Hridyanath for Team India.
Like her beautiful voice and her warm-hearted personality will be forever remembered by the masses, her love for cricket will also remain a lasting memory for millions of cricket lovers.
