With the Australian cricket team already in Mohali, Mohammed Shami has tested positive for Covid-19 and won't be a part of the 3-match T20 series.
The pacer was not picked for Team India's squad for T20 World Cup 2022 but had to play the two series vs Australia and then against South Africa. But he is now left with just 1 series before the Indian team flies for Australia, where Shami is part of the standby players' list.
These 2 series were being seen as rehearsals before the T20 World Cup and were a perfect opportunity for Shami to prove his mettle in the shortest format. After a brilliant IPL with the Gujarat Titans, Shami wasn't a part of India's Asia Cup 2022 squad, which many believed was a mistake.
Umesh Yadav was called in as his replacement and he landed in Chandigarh on Sunday and went straight to the team hotel.
