Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka is unlikely to play the first few matches of the Indian Premier League after hurting his hamstring during the second ODI against Bangladesh on March 15.

Madushanka was acquired by the Mumbai Indians for INR 4.6 crore in the mini-auction in December 2023.

A statement by the Sri Lanka Cricket board revealed that the pacer has suffered a hamstring injury, and has returned home to begin his rehabilitation.

Sri Lanka manager Mahinda Halangoda was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying that it is a new injury and they don't know how long it will take for him to recover.

Halangoda added that Madushanka will have to be assessed again when he goes home by the medical team at the high-performance centre.
