A change in captaincy for Pakistan didn't prove fruitful as Australia crushed the visitors by 360 runs in the 1st Test in Perth to go 1-0 up in the 3-match Test series.
Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took 3 wickets each but it was Nathan Lyon who snatched the limelight by picking up 2 wickets in the 2nd innings. His 1st wicket of Faheem Ashraf was his 500th Test wicket as Lyon became only the 8th bowler in the history of Test cricket to achieve the feat.
He is already the 3rd-highest wicket taker for Australia in Tests, behind Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath.
As a result, Pakistan was bowled out for a mere 89 in the 2nd innings, their lowest Test score Down Under in the last 19 years.
