Amidst the ongoing debate surrounding Jonny Bairstow's controversial dismissal, a viral video circulating on social media has caught attention. The footage shows Bairstow attempting to run out Marnus Labuschagne in a manner reminiscent of how Alex Carey dismissed Bairstow on the final day of the Lord's Test.
In the video, Labuschagne had shouldered arms, and Bairstow swiftly collected the ball before under-arming a throw towards the striker's end, narrowly missing the stumps. Labuschagne though was safely inside the crease. Carey had noticed Bairstow leaving the crease too soon and swiftly under-armed a ball to hit the stumps.
The footage is from Day 3 of the Lord's Test, specifically during the 31st over of the innings, when Bairstow made the sneaky attempt to run out the Australian number 3 batsman.
While England captain Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum criticized Australia, terming Bairstow's dismissal as against the spirit of cricket, social media users deemed England's reaction as 'hypocritic'. Many users took to Twitter to share the video, highlighting how the Australian team only engaged in tactics employed by the English side earlier.
