ODI World Cup Qualifiers - West Indies fail to qualify for World Cup after defeat against Scotland

West Indies cricket team suffered a major setback as they bowed out of the ODI World Cup race after a 7-wicket defeat by Scotland in the ICC 2023 Cricket World Cup qualifiers.

This is the first time in the history of West Indies cricket that they have not qualified for the World Cup.

Batting first after losing the toss, West Indies team was all out for 181 runs with Jason Holder top-scoring for the side with 45 runs.

Brendan McMullan took 3 wickets for Scotland.

Scotland's team stood up to the task with Matthew Cross top scoring for Scotland with 74 runs.

Cross went on and helped Scotland chase the target within 43.3 overs.

The team which won the 1975 and 1979 World Cup faced defeat against Zimbabwe in the group stage of the qualifiers and were also defeated by the hands of the Netherlands.
