Ollie Pope transformed the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium into a fighting arena as he stunned India with a 196-run knock in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test.
The Three Lions England was reduced to 163/5 but went on to score 420. 196 out of those were scored by Pope alone.
It's now the highest-ever score by an English batter in the 2nd innings against India in India.
Interestingly, Pope has now scored more runs in this innings alone than he had in his entire career in India before this knock. It was a massive effort from a batter who had just 153 runs from 8 Test innings in India at an average of 24 before this match.
Pope stitched 3 crucial partnerships with the lower order to help England post a challenging 231-run target for India.
