The writing was on the wall and it finally came true. Punjab Kings have decided to part ways with head coach Anil Kumble, as the IPL franchise has decided not to renew his contract.
This brings an end to Kumble's 3-year stint with PBKS, a run which saw Punjab finish in the bottom half of the points table in all 3 seasons. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, the decision was taken by a board comprising multiple owners, including actress Preity Zinta, industrialists Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul and King's CEO Satish Menon.
Kumble was the 5th coach to be appointed by Punjab Kings in the last 8 years. In 42 games he was in charge of the franchise, PBKS managed to win just 18 of those. Punjab Kings is now looking for a new head coach, which they will announce soon.
