Bihar's Sakibul Gani scripted history on Friday as he became the first cricketer in the world to score a triple century on a first-class debut.

Sakibul, who hails from Motihari, registered the world record in a Ranji Plate tie against Mizoram in Kolkata.

He scored 341 runs from 405 balls and broke the record of Madhya Pradesh's Ajay Rohera who scored unbeaten 267 runs against Hyderabad during the 2018-19 Ranji season.

22-year-old Gani made his List A debut in October 2019 and has played 14 matches in the shorter format. Gani has scored 377 runs at an average of 31.41 with a career-best score of 114 runs.
