Ravi Shastri, India's former head coach, has made a strong statement regarding Hardik Pandya's future in Test cricket.
Speaking to The Week, Shastri said, 'His body cannot cope with Test cricket. Let’s be very clear about that.'
But the 61-year-old added that Hardik must work for the white-ball captaincy, 'After the World Cup, if his body is fit enough, he should take over captaincy in white-ball cricket.'
In the same breath, like several other cricket pundits, Shastri suggested that it is the right time for India to phase out senior players as youngsters are ready to take over.
Hardik Pandya is currently the vice-captain of the white-ball teams but he has helmed the squad several times in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
