India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin on Friday received an invitation to attend the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony, scheduled for January 22 in Ayodhya.

He was invited by Tamil Nadu's BJP State Secretary Dr. SG Suryah and vice-president Venkatraman C handed over the invitation to the star spinner.

Notably, World Cup-winning former India captain MS Dhoni received an invite for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony earlier in the month. Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma were also invited while Batting great Sachin Tendulkar received an invitation at his residence.

Members of the Indian Test squad, which includes Virat and Ashwin, are expected to assemble in Hyderabad by January 20 to begin preparation for the upcoming 5-match Test series against England, starting January 25.

With the much-anticipated temple consecration on January 22, it will be interesting to see which Test-bound cricketers attend the event.
