Former Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has made a huge claim that he had advised Babar Azam not to take up Pakistan's captaincy.
During a YouTube show, Akmal said that he saw Babar walking out for the toss during a T20I in Faisalabad and upon realising that he was being made the captain, Akmal told Babar that wasn't the right time for him to take up the captaincy.
'Reach Virat Kohli's and Steve Smith's level first. Give your best performances in the next 2-3 years as the batting line-up is dependent on you,' advised Akmal.
The former keeper further advised Babar to just concentrate on his batting. Akmal believed that captaincy would affect his batting and his approach, which he feels has taken a little dent now.
