In response to Mark Boucher's recent disclosure in a podcast regarding the rationale behind Rohit Sharma's dismissal as captain of the Mumbai Indians, Ritika Sajdeh, his wife, has sparked a debate on social media with her comment. Sajdeh's succinct remark, 'So many things wrong with this...', surfaced in the comments section of the Smash Sports podcast video on Instagram, where Boucher delved into the intricacies of the franchise's decision-making process.
While the precise connotation of Sajdeh's comment remains somewhat ambiguous, the leadership alteration within the Mumbai Indians camp had already ignited a flurry of controversy among the franchise's fans. Just two months prior, Sharma was removed as captain, with the mantle being passed on to Hardik Pandya, who had been acquired from the Gujarat Titans. Hardik, who had previously represented the Mumbai franchise, led the Gujarat Titans to two consecutive final appearances (including 1 title) during his two seasons with the team.
During the podcast discussion, Boucher shed light on the situation, asserting, "I think it was purely a cricketing decision. We saw the window period to get Hardik back as a player. For me, it’s a transition phase. A lot of people don’t understand in India, people get quite emotional."
Expounding further, Boucher remarked, "He is still going to captain India so that hype’s gonna be there but when he steps into the IPL maybe just taking that extra bit of pressure off him as a captain and maybe we get the best out of Rohit Sharma."
Boucher also made a mention of Sharma's family, stating that the franchise wants him to play with a smile on his face and spend a bit of time with his family.
