Sourav Ganguly backed the BCCI's decision to go ahead with Rohit Sharma as Team India's T20I captain.

During a promotional event, the former India skipper said, 'Of course Rohit should captain the team in the T20I World Cup. Virat Kohli also should be there. Virat Kohli is an outstanding player, nothing will happen (to return after 14 months).'

The duo has been included in India's squad for the series against Afghanistan. It will be the first time since India's T20 World Cup semifinal defeat against England on 10 November, 2022, that the duo will play a T20I game.
