The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) asked former Team India coach Ravi Shastri to also speak up about the situation in Manipur, marked by ethnic strife, following his praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP's recent electoral victories.
NCP's national spokesperson Clyde Crasto took to X, urging Shastri to use his influential voice, stating, "Mr. Ravi Shastri, you always say, 'Like a Tracer Bullet....' Well then, please say something about the bullets that have taken many innocent lives in Manipur."
Crasto further emphasized that Shastri should also express his views on the plight of women wrestlers who are fighting a case against BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual assault by the grapplers.
Crasto's comments came in the wake of Ravi Shastri's praise for Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, where he took to X to laud the BJP's electoral triumphs in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan.
"A team at play. Clinical. Absolutely brilliant. A bulldozing performance and how," Shastri had remarked on the BJP's success, drawing attention to the party's strategic and dominant approach in the elections.
