Ravi Shastri broke his silence on the split captaincy debate in Indian cricket. During a Star Sports show, the former India coach said that This could be a blessing in disguise for Virat and Rohit as it's the right way to go.
'I don’t think in this era if the bubble life exists for another year or so, one guy can handle all, that is not easy at all,' added Shastri.
The 59-year-old also said that he wanted to establish Rohit as an opener. 'I thought if I can’t get the best out of him as a batsman then I am a failure as a coach because there is too much talent there,' Shastri further added.
After Virat stepped down as the T20 skipper, BCCI went ahead and appointed Rohit as the ODI captain as well, as the board didn't want 2 white-ball captains.
