After the shocking arrest of Sri Lankan cricketer, Danushka Gunathilaka over his alleged involvement in assault and rape charges in Australia, the Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Cricket board in a tweet said that it has decided to suspend the cricketer from all forms of cricket with immediate effect and that the 31-year-old would not be considered for any selection.
The Lankan cricketer was arrested after a 29-year-old woman accused him of assault and was charged with four counts of sexual intercourse without consent. Danushka appeared in court on 6th November, to seek bail following his arrest.
The Sri Lankan Cricket Board further assured to provide full cooperation to the Australian authorities and also assured of action against the accused if found guilty of his charges.
The Sri Lankan board also asserted that they have a 'zero tolerance policy for such actions and that they'd provide all help necessary for the impartial inquiry of the case.
