Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar feels that Indian captain Rohit Sharma should consider replacing KS Bharat with KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper-batter for the WTC Final against Australia in June purely because of the latter's batting abilities.
"You can see KL Rahul as a wicketkeeper. If he bats at No.5 or 6 in at the Oval (in the WTC final) then our batting will be stronger. Because he batted really well in England last year. He scored a century at the Lord's. Keep KL Rahul in mind when you pick your XI for the WTC final," Gavaskar told Sports Tak.
With Rishabh Pant out of the picture with a long-term injury, KS Bharat was chosen as his replacement for the Border Gavaskar Trophy where the 29-year-old failed to impress with the bat and didn't look confident with his role behind the stumps as well.
KL Rahul was recently removed from his role as vice-captain of the Test squad and not chosen for the last 2 Tests against Australia after failing to even cross the 30-run mark in his last 10 Test innings.
