Mumbai cricket team won their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy as they beat Himachal Pradesh by 3 wickets in the final at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. The win gave Mumbai another piece of silverware to add to their elusive list of achievements.
Bowling first, the Mumbai bowling duo of spinner Tanush Kotian (3/15) and medium-pacer Mohit Avasthi (3/21) helped the team restrict Himachal to a mere 143 runs in the 1st innings.
Chasing which, Mumbai had some slip-ups of their own in the 2nd innings as they lost 4 wickets with 96 runs on the board at the 13-over mark with Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer also returning back to the pavilion.
However, Sarfaraz Khan carried on and helped Mumbai win a close encounter with 3 balls to spare courtesy of his brilliant 36 runs off 31 balls in the end.
