The BCCI has decided to send the entire Team India contingent, including the full T20 squad, net bowlers and standbys, to Australia a week prior to their proposed schedule for T20 World Cup 2022.
The decision was taken in order to better acclimatise and start with match practice. According to a report in the Indian Express, Team India will fly to Australia on October 5, a day after the 3rd and final T20 vs South Africa.
According to the ICC, India was scheduled to play 2 practice games against New Zealand and hosts Australia but the BCCI is planning at least 3 warm-up matches other than that. 'We are in talks with a few teams who will play games with us besides warm-up games kept by ICC.' A BCCI source told the publication.
India will play 3 T20 internationals each against Australia and then vs South Africa before their T20 World Cup campaign begins on October 23 with the game against arch-rivals Pakistan.
