Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has made a bold prediction regarding Virat Kohli’s future.
According to Shoaib, Kohli might retire after the T20 World Cup in Australia next month to increase his longevity in other formats.
"Kohli might just take retirement after the T20 World Cup. He may do that to extend his longevity in the other formats. If I was him, I would have looked at the larger picture and taken a call," the Pakistani speedster said in a live session hosted by India.com.
Shoaib’s comments come only days after Shahid Afridi made a similar suggestion to Kohli. Afridi, who announced his retirement as many as five times, only to return on four of those occasions, drew the ire of former Indian spinner Amit Mishra. The leggie took a sly dig at Afridi, tweeting 'some people retire only once'.
Virat Kohli, who always seems to be in the limelight, overcame his century drought only recently, scoring a fantastic hundred against Afghanistan at the Asia Cup - his first in the shortest format. The 33-year-old averages over 50 in the shortest format and will be a key individual for the Men in Blue Down Under.
