Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Virat Kohli back in Team India's T20 playing XI as he is set to miss the 1st T20I vs Afghanistan.

On the eve of the 1st T20I on Wednseday, head coach Rahul Dravid confirmed that Virat will miss the game due to personal reasons. He will join the team ahead of the 2nd T20I in Indore later this week.

The BCCI named both Kohli and Rohit Sharma in India's T20I squad for Afghanistan. Interestingly, the duo last played a T20I way back on 10 November, 2022.

The 3-match series against Afghanistan is the only T20I series Team India will play before the T20 World Cup in June. It means that the selectors will now have just 2 games to assess Virat's form in the shortest format.
